Explorers is for 14 to 18 year olds

Explorers choose what they do, plan it themselves and make it happen.

That might mean a mountain expedition, offshore sailing, paragliding or a camp abroad. It might mean your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, or the King’s Scout Award, the highest award for young people in Scouts.

Explorers can also become Young Leaders, helping to run Beavers, Cubs or Scouts. It’s great for your CV, it’s training you’ll use for life, and the younger members love it.

Our Explorer Units

  • Coast Explorers meet at the Scout and Guide Hut, Manor Road, Tynemouth
  • North Shields Explorers meet at Hawkeys Lane Methodist Church, North Shields

You can join from 13½. Explorers move on to Scout Network at 18.
