Thanks to a fantastic effort by some of our groups last November, the District managed to collect £2,726.77 for the 2018 Poppy Appeal. This was the most money raised by any youth organisation in the Whitley Bay and North Shields area and as a result the District has won the Royal British Legion’s Youth Cup for the first time in the 8 years we have been involved in the collections.

The trophy was presented by the Young Mayor of North Tyneside, Miss Poppy Arnold to Niamh from the 3rd Tynemouth (Ritson’s Own) who collected it on behalf of the District.

So far the Whitley Bay, North Shields & District Branch of the Royal British Legion has raised over £85,000 for the 2018 Poppy Appeal, an excellent total which the street collections carried out by the youth groups plays a really important part in. Thank you to everyone who helps with the annual collection which so far this year has raised over £50m nationally.
