Darren Bailey
District Commissioner

Darren was appointed District Commissioner of Tynemouth in February 2018. Darren started life in Scouting as a Group Occasional helper at 3rd Killingworth Scouts before becoming their Group Chairman and Assistant Scout Leader. He then became Assistant Group Scout Leader of 3rd Killingworth in June 2017 as well as joining the Benton District Appointments Committee and becoming a County Training Advisor. During Darren's tenure as District Commissioner of Tynemouth Scouts, he has worked as part of a Team District Commissioner before becoming sole District Commissioner in July 2019. Darren has used his leadership and management skills to help grow the district during the last two census periods as well as open two new groups, see the implementation of a Early Years Provision 'Hedgehogs' trial at 2nd Howdon and continue to grow the District Team and District.


Darren's role is to manage and support the Scout District to ensure it runs effectively and that Scouting within the District develops in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scout Association so that that the District provides good quality Scouting for young people and proactively supports and manages adults in the District.
