NEW County Commissioner

Good morning,

I hope everyone is keeping well!

As you may have read that Northumberland Scouts have appointed a brand new County Commissioner following the tenure of Michael Wood-Williams.

After a rigorous appointment process it has been announce that Mr Peter Thorp, has been appointed as County Commissioner of Northumberland Scouts.

Peter is someone who has been involved within Tynemouth Scouts for the past 40 years. From being a Cub at the 8th Tynemouth Scouts it was clear that Peter would rise to the top.

The top Peter did rise to, Peter has taken on various roles within Scouting.. From Section leader to Assistant District Commissioner for Section Support, Peter has given it his all. Peter has been a member of HQ Staff, Group Scout Leader, Regional Administrator and District Commissioner of Tynemouth.

More recently Peter has been our very own District Chair serving Steph Doughty and Darren Bailey as District Commissioner respectively. The list goes on… The most recent roles Peter has undertaken are Deputy County Commissioner which lead to him standing down as District Chair. Peter did not cut ties with Tynemouth Scouts as he took on District Centre Manager and a member of the Executive Committee.

Please join me in wishing Peter all the very best at the new County Commissioner of Northumberland Scouts.

Peter will remain as Acting DC until the search party begins to look for the new District Commissioner of Tynemouth Scouts.

Please continue to contact Peter, Myself, Christina or Naomi if you have any issues or questions you’d like to ask.

A massive thank you to Michael Wood-Williams for his tenure as County Commissioner over the last 7 years – read more in our news article
