The Lord Lieutenant's Competition Presentation Evening

The following text and photos have been taken with kind permission from the Royal British Legion Northumbria County branch website.

The evening of Friday the 25^th February saw the Royal British Legion, Northumbria gather in the sumptuous Hall of the Northumbria University Student's Union to honour and thank the youth organisations, schools and colleges of Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and Co Durham who helped their local legion Branches with their Poppy Appeal collections during November 2010. Altogether, the Youth Organisations concerned collected an amazing total of over £60,720.00p for the 2010 Poppy Appeal.

Forty-one Youth groups from the Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps, Scouts, Colleges and other Youth Organisations were present to receive certificates from the Lord Lieutenant of Tyne & Wear, Mr Nigel Sherlock CBE; the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland, Air Vice Marshal Sandy Hunter CBE DFC and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of County Durham, Col. Arthur Charlton TD DL.
