Flys
The fly crew work way above the stage. Using a rope and pulley system they raise and drop the back cloths onto the stage between acts and sometimes in view while the audience is watching. This is all co-ordinated between the Flymaster and the Stage Manager using 2 way radios.

The main house curtain is also raised and lowered from here. Using a large winch, the flymaster acts on the prompt of the Stage Manager at the opening, interval and finale. Curtain calls are the bain of the flymaster as the curtain has to go in and out repeatedly.

Incase you are wondering about the graffiti on the walls. This isn't because we are all a bunch of hooligans. These are the names of the shows, what years they were done and the names of the fly crews that worked them. Just to the right at the top of the ladder is the 'Ritson's Fly Crew' who have been in the flys for the past 4 shows.
